Mission

Vision

&

FtC's mission is to promote emotional and spiritual healing by fostering and nurturing the profound connection between humans and animals, recognizing the intrinsic value of all living beings and the importance of instilling empathy and compassion in future generations.

FtC’s vision is to create mutually beneficial partnerships between rescued animals in need of medical treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing care, and young individuals who are facing various challenges in their lives. We aim to provide a supportive network where animals and young people can heal, learn, and grow together.

2025 Programs

This summer, youth between the ages of 12 and 18 have the extraordinary opportunity to embark on a Rescue Adventure, a unique one-day experience where they'll gain hands-on experience in the surgical treatment of a rescued animal.

The adventure will begin in Canon City, where a group of four youths will be paired with two adult volunteer guides and a rescued animal. Together, they will journey deep into the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. Upon arrival at the remote Off-Grid Veterinary treatment center, nestled amidst the stunning mountain scenery, the youths will be given an overview of the day's activities and safety procedures. Under the guidance and supervision of the Off-Grid Veterinarian, the youths will have the opportunity to assist in the surgical procedure and treatment of their four-legged companion. They will learn about anesthesia, surgical techniques, and post-operative care, gaining valuable insight into the field of veterinary medicine.

Following a successful Rescue Adventure, participants will have the opportunity to sign up for a three-day Companion Camp Out. In this immersive experience, they will be paired with another youth, an adult guide, and a rescued canine companion. Throughout the camp, the youth pairs will assume responsibility for supervising, caring for, and training their assigned canine. They will learn about dog behavior, basic obedience commands, and responsible pet ownership. The camp will also include outdoor activities such as hiking, nature walks, and campfire stories, fostering teamwork, leadership, and a love for the outdoors.

Companion animals help people

Partnerships

FtC partners with Fremont Veterinary Hospital to provide essential diagnostic screening for rescued animals requiring surgery. Once cleared for surgery, the rescued animals are paired with local youth who have the unique opportunity to assist the Off-Grid Veterinarian during the surgical and post-operative care of the companion animal. This immersive experience provides invaluable hands-on learning for the youth while ensuring the animals receive the highest quality of care.

FtC partnerships also involve collaboration with Canine Training Academy. These experienced professionals work closely with youth participants, educating them on proper training techniques for rescued dogs. This hands-on experience not only benefits the animals but also fosters a sense of responsibility and compassion in the young people involved.

Through these collaborative partnerships, Forsaken to Cherished is able to address both the physical and behavioral needs of rescued companion animals. By engaging youth in the process, FtC is not only transforming the lives of animals but also fostering a lifelong commitment to the human-animal bond in future generations.
